Install Your Own Butcher Block Countertops – Part 4 of 5

Check out how we installed these beech wood Ikea butcher block countertops in our barn house kitchen. Our old Ardex concrete “cheater” countertops we installed a few years ago were starting to show some heavy wear, so instead of repairing them, we replaced them with these wood tops finished with Waterlox.

This is Part 4 where I show how I routed channels in the bottom of the tops to fit some countertop miter bolts to help hold the butt joints tight, and how I installed the tops to the Ikea cabinets using screws with big washers in oversized mounting holes to allow the butcher block room to expand and contract as the seasons change.
